Women who smoked during pregnancy or exposed to regular secondhand smoke had babies prone to issues such as SIDS or low birth weight.

While smoking a pipe is not illegal in itself what is illegal is smoking one in public. Included are any places that people gather in mass including restaurants, bars and parks. Smoking is even restricted within a certain distance from those places. The intention is to keep the secondhand smoke from spreading to others. You are still allowed to smoke a pipe within your own home. Renters, however, should make sure to find out if smoking is allowed on the particular property. Many states have even made it illegal to smoke in a car if there are children in it.

With all of these restrictions in place it is important to be careful when and where you smoke. Pipe smoking is unlawful in most public places and you must be aware as to be protected yourself as well as those around you.
